What this policy covers

This policy explains how Kompass Education (UK) Limited uses cookies and similar browser storage on the Kompass website and learning portal. It was last updated on 7 October 2026. A cookie is a small file placed on your device; similar technologies include local storage and session storage.

We use essential technology immediately where it is needed to provide a service you request or keep it secure. We use optional functional, analytics or marketing technology only after you choose to allow that category in the cookie banner.

Essential cookies

Essential cookies support sign-in, security, load balancing and your consent choices. They include Auth.js session and cross-site request forgery protection cookies when you sign in, and consent_preferences, which records your cookie choices for up to 12 months. These cannot be switched off through our controls because the requested service would not work securely without them.

Functional storage

If you allow functional storage, the service may remember settings such as your light, dark or system theme and other interface preferences. Theme preference is stored in browser storage under learnfolio-theme. Removing it resets the appearance to the default or your device setting.

Analytics and marketing

If you allow analytics, we may use an analytics_session_id in session storage and related usage events to understand how the service is used and where it needs improvement. Session storage is normally removed when the browser tab or session ends. Error and security monitoring may still process limited technical information where it is necessary to keep the service reliable and secure.

If you allow marketing storage, an affiliate_ref cookie may record that you followed a referral link for up to 30 days so a resulting purchase can be attributed correctly. We do not use this site to sell personal information or run third-party behavioural advertising.

Third-party services

Google may set its own cookies when you choose Google sign-in, and Stripe may set cookies or use similar technology when you open its hosted payment pages. Those services control their own technology and explain it in their privacy and cookie information. Embedded or linked third-party content may do the same when you choose to use it.

Manage your choices

You can accept all, reject all optional categories, or choose individual categories in the cookie banner. You can change your choice later through the cookie controls or by clearing site data in your browser. Blocking essential cookies in your browser may prevent sign-in, security or checkout functions from working.
